Weekend in SLC

Last weekend we packed up and headed for a fun weekend in SLC. We met up with Josh, Alayna and Eliza at the Little America Hotel where we stayed for the night. We had a great time. We ate at the Macaroni Grill Friday night before doing some major swimming;) The pool was so warm and the kids had fun diving for their new diving sticks (Thanks Nana!!) and the boys (including Shane and Josh;) had fun throwing the football around. We stayed at the pool until we were all pickled and totally worn out.
Saturday morning we headed to breakfast before visiting Temple Square. The kids always love to go and look around the temple grounds. They enjoy seeing all of the beautiful water features and flowers. There were also A LOT of brides outside getting their pictures taken while we were there and Kaylee thought they were all so beautiful and couldn't believe how many there were! They were all so different and beautiful in their own way and it made her excited for when she will be a bride at the temple too. We didn't have very good weather, but it cooperated long enough for us to walk around the temple before it started to get really cold and a bit rainy (made me feel sorry for all of those brides).
After visiting the temple grounds we headed across the street to the Church History Museum. We LOVED it there!! It was our first time visiting there and there were so many neat things to look at and learn about. The kids really enjoyed it as well. They were given a map at the beginning with special clues on it for things that they needed to look for and find. They were totally into it and really had a great time. We love to go places where we can look at things and learn about things that are important to us. They also have a big space just for children where they can dress up, build temples out of blocks, and do many other things related to the church. They really had fun there and spent a long time exploring it all, which gave Shane and Josh plenty of time to look at and read everything they wanted to.
I guess the saying "time flies when you are having fun" really is true because it seemed like the day was over before we knew it and it was time to head back home. We had so much fun and can't wait until our next mini summer vacation!!
